For two people in our 50's that don't do this every day, I think we did a pretty good job building this 10 x 10 saltbox shed kit from Curtis Lumber!

Despite the fact that we ran into several problems with the trusses being of poor quality and the blueprints/directions being inadequate, we have no regrets about buying and building this shed! We made everything work out in the end and we are happy with the results. We also know that it did save us time in the long run because we don't do something like this every day and needed to get it done in about a week (Which we did despite all the pouring rain!).

What you should know:
1. You must have basic construction know-how
2. Use the directions/blueprints as a guide only
3. We returned all building nails for screws (except roofing)
4. We suggest only putting two cats at the top and bottom on either side of the door with a wall joist from top to bottom down the center.
5. We suggest cutting the T-111 panels 3-4 inches longer than stated in directions.
6. You need to provide your own felt for the roof.

Is it perfect? No. Could it have been built better? Probably. Do we care? Absolutely not!

We did end up buying new tools to get the job done – the Ridgid 18 volt 5 piece combo kit had every tool we needed (and we used every single one to finish!). The best part was that it comes with TWO (2) Amp hour batteries! And they have a lifetime service agreement too!

The kit included a Hammer Drill, Impact Driver, Circular Saw, Reciprocating Saw, LED Flashlight, Charger, (2) 4.0 Ah Batteries, Auxiliary Handle, (2) Bits, Circular Saw Blade, Blade Wrench, Reciprocating Saw Blade, (3) Belt Hooks, Bag, and Operator’s Manuals! See the affiliate link below.

  3. Thanks Rich and Kathie for always being honest with your product reviews.  Despite the problems with the kit, you made it work and now have a safe and dry space for all your tools.  Thanks for sharing with us.  Love your videos

    1. We had a couple of close calls….LOL Here’s a tip for you guys: Decide who the boss will be BEFORE you start any task together (take turns on different projects)! Definitely helps 🙂 Have a great day!
